IN THE MATTER OF AN APPLICATION BY ANNA LAVERACK FOR LEAVE TO APPEAL

[2024] HCASL 124
S31/2024

  1. On 29 February 2024, Beech-Jones J refused the applicant's ex parte application dated 22 February 2024, which referred to and relied upon the applicant's affidavit affirmed on 22 February 2024, seeking orders restricting the identification of her identity in relation to her proceedings in this Court, including an order that she be referred to by a pseudonym pursuant to s 77RE of the Judiciary Act 1903 (Cth). His Honour refused the application on the grounds that, "[h]aving regard to the public interest in open justice", his Honour was "not satisfied that it [was] necessary to make any of the orders sought" by the applicant.

  2. An appeal to this Court would enjoy no prospects of success and does not raise any question of law of public importance.

  3. Leave to appeal is refused.
