RL V NEW ZEALAND POLICE HC PMN CRI-2011-454-18 26 October 2011
[1] This is an appeal against a refusal in the District Court to grant name suppression. Since the appeal was filed, counsel advises that an expert report is to hand detailing psychological risks to members of the appellant’s family if name suppression is lifted. A further development is that other charges have been laid in the District Court. On this basis the Crown no longer opposes the appeal or suppression. That subject only to the reservation of its position should circumstances change.
[2] On that basis (and with that slight limitation), the appeal is allowed accordingly.
