SENTENCES OF WILD J

[1]      Each of you is for sentence, having pleaded guilty a few minutes ago to a charge of possession of offensive weapons in a public place.  The weapons were a butcher’s knife, a meat hook, a metal torch, and a metal wheel brace.  The charge arises out of an altercation between the gang of which you are members, Hell’s Angels, and the Mongrel Mob at a service station, and subsequently near the Wanganui Hospital on 28 February last year.  I accept that it was the Mongrel Mob that was the aggressor, both at the service station and later at the hospital.  I need not go into the facts any further.   Suffice it to say there was a regrettable amount of

violence in the middle of Wanganui, including shooting.

R V B AND ORS HC WANG CRI 2006-083-000480  3 December 2007

[2]      Although each of you has a different history of previous convictions, for drugs, driving offences and violence, it is agreed that I should treat you all equally in terms of sentence.

[3]      Taking into account that each of you has spent a period remanded in custody, I fine each of you $200.
