(Charges) Regulations 1996

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objectives

The objectives of these Regulations are—

(a)

to provide for charges payable for admission to Victoria's Open Range Zoo at Werribee; and

(b)

to increase the charges payable for admission to the Sir Colin MacKenzie Zoological Park and the Royal Melbourne Zoological Gardens; and

(c)

to provide for the waiver of admission charges to Board properties for certain persons at certain times.

2. Authorising provisions

These Regulations are made under sections 41 and
49 of the Zoological Parks and Gardens Act
1995.

3. Commencement

These Regulations come into operation on 1 July

1996.

4. Principal Regulations

In these Regulations the 1Zoological Parks and Gardens (Administration) Regulations 1992 are called the Principal Regulations.

5. Amendment of regulation 5

In regulation 5 of the Principal Regulations, insert
the following definitions—

'"Royal Melbourne Zoological Gardens" means

the zoological park at Royal Park existing on
the lands shown on the plan in Part 1 in
Schedule 1 of the Zoological Parks and
Gardens Act 1995;

"Sir Colin MacKenzie Zoological Park" means the zoological park at Healesville existing on the lands shown on the plan in Part 3 in

Schedule 1 of the Zoological Parks and

Gardens Act 1995;

"Victoria's Open Range Zoo at Werribee"

means the zoological park at Werribee and Gardens Act 1995.'.

6. Regulation 8 substituted

For regulation 8 of the Principal Regulations
substitute—
"8. Charges for admission to Board properties
(1) The charges set out in Schedule 1 are the

charges that must be paid for admission to the Sir Colin MacKenzie Zoological Park

and the Royal Melbourne Zoological

Gardens.

(2) The charges set out in Schedule 2 are the

charges that must be paid for admission to
Victoria's Open Range Zoo at Werribee.

(3) Sub-regulations (1) and (2) do not apply to a

person who is exempt from paying
admission charges under regulation 9A or
9B.".

7. New regulations 9A and 9B inserted

After regulation 9 of the Principal Regulations
insert—

'9A. Waiver of admission charges to Royal

Melbourne Zoological Gardens and Sir

Colin MacKenzie Zoological Park

(1) The following persons are exempt from

paying charges fixed under regulation 8 for
admission to the Royal Melbourne
Zoological Gardens and the Sir Colin

MacKenzie Zoological Park—

(a)

on any day on which the Gardens or Park are open to the public—

(i) a child under 4 years of age;

(ii)  a person who is a carer in attendance of a physically or intellectually disabled person;

(iii)

accompanying children on a group

a teacher or supervising parent school or secondary school (where the ratio of the teacher or parent to the children is 1:6);

(iv) a member of the Board and the spouse and children of that member;
(v) a person who is employed by the Board and the spouse and children of that person;
(vi)

a person who holds a Board;

(b) on any day on which the Gardens or the Park are open to the public, except a Sunday or a public holiday—

(i)  a physically, intellectually or socially disadvantaged person who is resident at an institution

approved by the Director of the
relevant zoological park and on a
group visit approved by that
Director;

(ii)  a person who is a carer or supervisor of a group referred to in sub-paragraph (i);

(c) on any day on which the Gardens or Park are open to the public during normal opening hours, on presentation of a current membership card—

(i)  a member of the society known as the "Friends of the Zoos";

(ii)

has similar objectives to the
"Friends of the Zoos" in relation

a member of an organisation that Victoria.

(2) On any day on which the Royal Melbourne

Zoological Gardens are open to the public

after normal opening hours, the following
persons admitted to the Gardens before 4pm
on presentation of a current membership card
are exempt from paying admission charges

fixed under regulation 8—

(a)

a member of the society known as the "Friends of the Zoos";

(b)

a member of an organisation that has similar objectives to the "Friends of the Zoos" in relation to a zoological park outside Victoria.

9B. Waiver of admission charges to Victoria's

Open Range Zoo at Werribee

On any day on which Victoria's Open Range following persons are exempt from paying admission charges fixed under regulation 8—

(a) a child under 3 years of age;

(b)

accompanying children on a group visit

a teacher or supervising parent secondary school (where the ratio of the teacher or parent to the children is 1:6);

(c)

a member of the Board and the spouse and children of that member;

(d)

a person who is employed by the Board and the spouse and children of that person;

(e)

a person who holds a complimentary pass issued by the Board.'.

8. Insertion of new schedules

After regulation 16 of the Principal Regulations insert—

(4) Full time student (other than a person $12.00
referred to in paragraph (3)) on
