His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Young Offenders Act 1997.

Explanatory note

The Youth Justice Advisory Committee is established by the Young Offenders Act 1997. The Act specifies the members of the Committee, and provides that further members may be determined in accordance with the regulations. The object of this Regulation is to amend the Young Offenders Regulation 1997 so as to add to the Committee:

(a)

the Managing Director of the Legal Aid Commission (or a nominee of the Managing Director), and

(b) a Magistrate nominated by the Chief Magistrate of the Local Courts.

This Regulation is made under the Young Offenders Act 1997, including sections

70 (1) (j) and 73 (the general regulation-making power).

2 Amendment of Young Offenders Regulation 1997

Schedule 1.

Insert after clause 5 (c):

(d)

the Managing Director of the Legal Aid Commission or a nominee of the Managing Director,
