STREET, SYDNEY (CONSTRUCTION) ACT.

An Act to sanction and to provide for the demolition of the existing bridge, and the construction of a new bridge, at York

Street North over Argyle Street, Sydney;

and for purposes connected therewith

This Act may be cited as the " Y o r k Street North— Bridge over Argyle Street, Sydney (Construction) Act,

2. (1) (a) The carrying out of the work described in the Schedule to this Act is hereby sanctioned.

(b) The said work shall be deemed to be an

authorised work within the meaning of the Public Works

Act,. 1912, as amended by subsequent Acts.

(c) The Minister for Public Works is

empowered to carry out the said work, and shall be the constructing authority for the same within the meaning

of the said Act, as so amended, and shall enter into such
contracts and take all such necessary steps for the proper

execution thereof as such authority may think proper.

(d) The provisions of the Public Works Act,

1912, as amended by subsequent Acts, sections thirty-

four, thirty-five, thirty-six and thirty-seven excepted,

shall apply to and in respect of the said work.

(2) Wi thou t prejudice to the genera l i ty of sub­ section one of this section the provis ions of section thi r ty-e ight of the Publ ic W o r k s Act, 1912, as amended by subsequent Acts , shall apply to and in respect of any contracts re fe r red to in p a r a g r a p h (c) of subsection one of this section.

3 . The plan of the said work is the p lan marked " Y o r k S t ree t Nor th—Br idge over Argy le Street , S y d n e y " , signed by the Minis ter for Publ ic W o r k s and counter­ signed by the Director of Publ ic Works , and deposi ted in the public office of the said Minister .

4 . The cost of ca r ry ing out the said work is es t imated a t fo r ty thousand pounds and such es t imated cost shall not, unde r any circumstances, be exceeded by more than ten pe r centum.

5. The provisions of this Act shall have effect and any land which in the opinion of the const ruct ing au thor i ty is requi red for the purposes of the said work may be used for or in connection with the demolit ion of the exist ing br idge and the construct ion and use of a br idge a t York S t ree t Nor th over Argy le Street , Sydney, notwi ths tanding any th ing contained in P a r t XILA of the Local Government Act, 1919, as amended by subsequent Acts .

SCHEDULE.

The demolition of the existing bridge over Argyle Street at York Street North, Sydney, and the construction at the same location of a pre-strcssed concrete bridge sixty-four feet span, sixty feet wide including provision for roadway and two footways. The whole of the work hereinbefore described to be subject to such modifications and deviations as may be deemed necessary or desirable by the constructing authority.
