2 Workplace Health and Safety (Officers)1992 No. 279, 1992 ˙ Short title 1. This notice may be cited as the Workplace Health and Safety (Officers) Notice 1992 . ˙ Commencement 2. This notice commences on 1 July 1994. ˙ Definitions 3. In this notice— “community services industry” means an industry involved in— (a) health or welfare services; or (b) education services; or (c) library services; or (d) scientific research services; or (e) meteorological services; or (f) employment services; or (g) prison services; or (h) operating a museum; “financial, property and business services industry” means an industry involved in— (a) providing financial services; or (b) investing in predominantly financial securities, including, for example, mortgages, patents and copyrights; or (c) providing insurance services; or (d) managing or valuing real estate, other than agricultural or pastoral properties; or (e) selling, leasing or developing real estate; or (f) providing architectural, surveying, legal, accountancy, or other professional services; or
3 Workplace Health and Safety (Officers)1992 No. 279, 1992 (g) advertising, market research, management consultancy, data processing or other office services; or (h) credit assessing or reporting; or (i) cleaning, pest control or caretaking services; or (j) security services; or (k) packing of goods (other than agricultural produce, food, beverages and tobacco) or crating or packing goods for transport; or (l) leasing or hiring machinery, plant or equipment, other than transport equipment; “recreational, personal and other services industry” means an industry involved in— (a) entertainment services; or (b) recreational or sporting services; or (c) accommodation services; or (d) catering services; or (e) personal services, including, for example, babysitting, cremation, gardening and photography; “retail and wholesale trade industry” means an industry involved in selling new or used goods; “transport and storage industry” means an industry involved in— (a) passenger or freight transport; or (b) providing terminal facilities for passengers or freight; or (c) operating airports; or (d) selling or leasing aircraft or ships; or (e) motor vehicle parking; or (f) motor vehicle rental; or (g) stevedoring; or (h) harbour or navigation services; or
4 Workplace Health and Safety (Officers)1992 No. 279, 1992 (i) booking, forwarding, crating, storage or custom agency services; or (j) operating oil or gas pipelines. ˙ Nomination of health and safety officer 4. Workplaces in the following industries are determined to be workplaces in respect of which a health and safety officer must be nominated under section 58(1)(b) of the Act— (a) the community services and public administration industry; (b) the financial, property and business services industry; (c) the recreational, personal and other services industry; (d) the retail and wholesale trade industry; (e) the transport and storage industry.
