This standard may be cited as the Workplace Health and Safety (Lead) Compliance Amendment Standard (No. 1) 1996 . ˙ Standard amended 2. This standard amends the Workplace Health and Safety (Lead) Compliance Standard 1995 . ˙ Amendment of s 15 (Labelling containers) 3. Section 15(2), example, ‘subsection (4)(b)’— omit, insert— ‘subsection (2)(b)’. ˙ Amendment of s 17 (Obtaining MSDS) 4. Section 17(1), ‘section 14’— omit, insert— ‘section 15’. ˙ Amendment of s 19 (Labelling containers) 5.(1) Section 19(1)(a), ‘section 14’— omit, insert— ‘section 15’. (2) Section 19(2)(b), example, ‘subsection (2)(a)’— omit, insert— ‘subsection (2)(b)’. ˙ Amendment of s 22 (Controlling exposure) 6. Section 22(6)(a) and (b)—
s7 3 s8 Workplace Health and Safety (Lead) Compliance No. 73, 1996 Amendment (No. 1) omit, insert— ‘(a) lead used in a lead process area does not, as far as is practicable, contaminate other areas of the workplace; and (b) workers in an area provided by the employer for eating and drinking are not exposed to the risk from lead; and (ba) before moving from a lead process area to an area used for eating and drinking, a worker washes the worker’s forearms, hands and face at the washing facilities provided at the workplace; 1 and’. ˙ Amendment of s 24 (Health surveillance) 7.(1) Section 24(4)(c)(ii)(A), ‘full’— omit. (2) Section 24(9)— omit, insert— (9) In this section— “health surveillance report” means information about— (a) the effects on a person’s health related to the person’s exposure to lead at a workplace; and (b) the need (if any) for remedial action; and (c) the type of remedial action needed.’. ˙ Amendment of s 28 (Confidentiality of worker’s medical record) 8. Section 28(1)— omit . 1 Under the Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 1995 , part 8 (Amenities), an employer is required to provide drinking water, a lunch room, a toilet, a shower facility and a washing point.

Schedule 1, ‘schedule 2, definition “lead hazardous substance” omit, insert— ‘section 8’. ˙ Amendment of sch 2 (Dictionary) 11. Schedule 2, definitions “register” and “risk assessment” omit, insert— “health surveillance report” see section 24. “lead hazardous substance” see section 8. “register” means the register mentioned in section 18. “risk assessment” means a risk assessment made under section 20.’.
