2 Workplace Health and Safety Amendment (No.4) No. 377, 1993 ˙ Short title 1. This regulation may be cited as the Workplace Health and Safety Amendment Regulation (No. 4) 1993 . ˙ Commencement 2. This regulation commences on 3 January 1994. ˙ Amended regulation 3. The Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 1989 is amended as set out in this regulation. ˙ Replacement of Part 30 (Hearing conservation) 4. Part 30— omit, insert— ‘PART 30—NOISE ˙ ‘Employer must manage noise ‘225.(1) An employer must ensure that the employer’s employees are not exposed at work to noise that exceeds— (a) in any 1 shift, a dose of A-weighted sound pressure that equals an A-weighted sound pressure level of 85 dB(A) for 8 hours ; or (b) a peak sound pressure level of 140 dB(lin). ‘(2) The sound pressure level is the level that— (a) is determined at the ears of a person who is not wearing a device to protect the person from noise exposure; and (b) is measured— (i) in the case of an A-weighted sound level—in accordance with AS 1269; or
