s1 2 s5 Workplace Health and Safety Amendment RegulationNo. 7, 2002 (No. 1) 2002 1 Short title This regulation may be cited as the Workplace Health and Safety Amendment Regulation (No. 1) 2002 . 2 Commencement This regulation commences on 1 February 2003. 3 Regulation amended This regulation amends the WorkplaceHealthandSafetyRegulation 1997. 4 Amendment of s 68 (What is “excessive noise”) (1) Section 68(1), definition “excessive noise” , paragraph (b)— omit, insert — ‘(b) a C-weighted sound pressure level of 140 dB(C), referenced to 20 µPa. 1 ’. (2) Section 68(2)(b)— omit, insert — ‘(b) for a C-weighted peak sound pressure level of 140 dB(C)—by a sound level meter with a peak detector indicator complying with AS 1259.1. 2 ’. 5 Amendment of sch 9 (Dictionary) (1) Schedule 9, definitions “dB(lin)” and “unweighted” — omit . 1 The symbol for this sound pressure level is L C,peak 140 dB. ‘µPa’ means micropascals. 2 AS 1259.1 Acoustics—Sound Level Meters is available on the organisation’s website at or may be purchased from Standards Australia, 232 St Paul’s Terrace, Fortitude Valley, 4006.
