Workmen’s Compensation (Amendment) Ordinance 1984

An Ordinance to amend the Workmen’s Compensation (Amendment) Ordinance 1983

Short title

1.  This Ordinance may be cited as the Workmen’s Compensation (Amendment) Ordinance 1984.1

Commencement

2.  This Ordinance shall be deemed to have come into operation on 30 December 1983.

Compensation for personal injuries to workmen

3.  Section 6 of the Workmen’s Compensation (Amendment) Ordinance 19832 is amended—

(a)by omitting from paragraph (a) “in any employment”; and

(b)by omitting from paragraph (a) “the employment” and substituting “his employment by his employer”.

Compensation for certain injuries

4.  Section 9 of the Workmen’s Compensation (Amendment) Ordinance 1983 is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sub-section:

“(2)  Section 12A of the Principal Ordinance as amended by this Ordinance applies to sub-section 10 (1) of the Principal Ordinance as so amended as if the amendments effected by sub-section (1) of this section had taken effect on 26 October 1983.”.

Maximum compensation

5.  Section 11 of the Workmen’s Compensation (Amendment) Ordinance 1983 is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sub-section:

“(2)  Section 12A of the Principal Ordinance as amended by this Ordinance applies to sub-section 12 (1) of the Principal Ordinance as so amended as if the amendments effected by sub-section (1) of this section had taken effect on 26 October 1983.”.
