B E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Council and Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows ;- Short title I. This Act may be cited as " The Workers'IJwellings acnodnstruction Acts Amendment Act of H)14," and shall be read as one of Act.. with "The TVorke1's' IJwellings Act of IV09,"* herein referred to as the Principal Act. 'rhe Principal Act, " Tile Workeri/ IJwelling8 Act Amelldment Act of 1912,"t and this Act may be cited together as "The TForke1's' IJwellinj'8 Acts, 1909 to 1914." Amendment 2. In subsection three of section nine of the Principal of ~ . 9. Act, before the words" shall be liable" the words "and no policy of insurance effected with the .Hoard" are inserted. Insurunr~ Fund. 3. After section seventeen of the Principal Act, the following section is inserted;- [17A.J The Board may carry on insurance business, and m:1y for that purpose enter into contracts with borrowers under this Act for the insurance, until the repayment in full of advances, of dwelling-houses against fire, storm, tempest, or other disaster in consideration of the payment of premiums at prescribed rates. In such case the Board shall establish a fund t:) be called" The Insurance Fund." All premiums paid to the Board in respect of insurance shall be carried to the credit uf such Fund, and such Eund shl:"!,!l be charged with the payment of all sums due under policies of insurance effected with the Board, and also with all expenses of or in connection with the carrying on of the insurance business of the Board; Provided that, in the event of the amount to the credit of the Insurance }\md being at any time insufficient to pay ftllliahilities and expenses as aforesaid, the deficiency: * 9 Edw. In subsection (iv.) of section nineteen of the Prin- Amendment cipal Act, the words" and the payment to the Board of of s. 19. insurance moneys received to be applied, at the discretion of the Board, wholly or in part in reduction of the existing debt" are repealed, and the words" the management and control of the Insurance Fund of the Board; the fixing of rates of insurance; the form of insurance policies; the taking over of all current insurance policies on workers' dwellings when so directed by the Board; and all matters necessary or expedient 'for the purpose of enabling the Board to duly undertake the business of insurance under this Act" are inserted in lieu thereof. The following provision is added to the definition Amendment of "Improvements" in section four of the Principal of s. 4. Act:- "For all the purposes of this Act, and notwithstanding anything contained in ' The Rights in Water and Water Conservation and Utilization Act 0/,191O,'t an artesian well, whether constructed before the commence- ment of that Act or constructed or enlarged, deepened, or altered pursuant to a license of fixed duration granted under that Act, shall be deemed to be an improvement upon the holding whereon it is situated." * 1 Geo.
