Workers Compensation (Default Insurance Fund) Amendment Act 2010

An Act to amend the Workers Compensation Act 1951

The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:

  1. Name of Act

    This Act is the Workers Compensation (Default Insurance Fund) Amendment Act 2010.

  2. Commencement

    (1)The following sections commence on the day after this Act’s notification day:

    (a)section 3;

    (b)section 7;

    (c)section 8;

    (d)section 9;

    (e)section 11;

    (f)section 13.

    NoteThe naming and commencement provisions automatically commence on the notification day (see Legislation Act, s 75 (1)).

    (2)The remaining provisions commence on a day fixed by the Minister by written notice.

    Note 1A single day or time may be fixed, or different days or times may be fixed, for the commencement of different provisions (see Legislation Act, s 77 (1)).

    Note 2If a provision has not commenced within 6 months beginning on the notification day, it automatically commences on the first day after that period (see Legislation Act, s 79).

  3. Legislation amended

    This Act amends the Workers Compensation Act 1951.

  4. Functions of committee
    Schedule 3, section 3.3 (1)

    (1)The committee has the following functions:

    (a)to keep informed of the operations of the DI fund to provide the advice mentioned in paragraph (b);

    (b)if the Minister or the DI fund manager asks for advice in relation to the DI fund—to  provide the advice requested.

  5. Membership of committee

    (2)The Minister must appoint the following members:

    (a)1 member that the Minister is satisfied represents the interests of employers;

    (b)1 member that the Minister is satisfied represents the interests of workers;

    (c)1 member that the Minister is satisfied represents the interests of insurers.
