HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Workers Compensation (Bush Fire, Emergency and Rescue Services) Act 1987, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Workers Compensation (Bush Fire, Emergency and Rescue
Services) Regulation 1987 is amended:
(a)
byinserting before thedefinitionof“the Act” inclause 3 the following definition:
“fire control officer” has the same meaning as in the Bush
Fires Act 1949;
(b) by inserting after clause 7 the following Part:
PART 3—BUSH FIRE FIGHTERS
Associated operation or work—fund raising activities
8. For the purposes of section 8 (1) (c) of the Act, fundraising for a bush fire brigade by an official fire fighter that is authorised by a fire control officer is an associated operation or work if that fundraising is carried out voluntarily and without remuneration or reward.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
The object of this Regulation is to provide that fundraising by an official fire fighter for a bush fire brigade that is authorised by a fire control officer is an associated operation or work for the purposes of Part 2 of the Workers Compensation (Bush Fire, Emergency and Rescue Services) Act 1987. Part 2 deals with compensation for bush fire fighters for personal injury received by an official fire fighter (or a person of a prescribed class) arising out of or in the course of the carrying out of an associated operation or work.
