Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981

Workers’ Compensation and Injury

Management Amendment Regulations 2008

Made by the Governor in Executive Council.

1.             Citation

These regulations are the Workers’ Compensation and Injury
Management Amendment Regulations 2008.

2.             Commencement

These regulations come into operation as follows —

(a) regulations 1 and 2 — on the day on which these regulations are published in the Gazette;
(b) the rest of the regulations — on the day after that day.

3.             Regulations amended

These regulations amend the Workers’ Compensation and
Injury Management Regulations 1982.

4.             Regulation 44B inserted

After regulation 44A insert:

44B. Exercise physiology
(1) In this regulation —
exercise physiologist means an individual with current
accreditation as an exercise physiologist by the

Australian Association for Exercise and Sports

Science.

(2) Where exercise physiology is approved under
section 5(1) of the Act as an “approved treatment” for
workers suffering disabilities that are compensable
under the Act, that treatment can only be provided by
an exercise physiologist.
