B E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. (l.) This Act may be cited as "The Workers' Short title Oompensation Acts Amendment Act of 1949," and shall be~~~ struction. read as one with *" The Workers' Oompensation Acts, 1916 to 1948," herein referred to as the Principal Act. Subj ect as hereimi.fter in this subsection COIIlIIlence- provided, this Act shall come into operation upon a date ment of Act. to be fixed by the Governor in Council by Proclamation published in the Gazette : Provided that, upon the passing of this Act, an such regulations (whether by way of repeal or amendment of, substitution for, or addition to the regulations then in force under the Principal Act) may be made under the Principal Act as amended by this Act as are necessary for bringing the Principal Act as amended by this Act into operation at the commencement of this Act. 2. Section three of the Principal Act is amended as Amendments follows :_ of B. 3. (a) In the definition" Worker" in subsection one thereof the words "seven hundred and fifty pounds" are repealed where those words appear in paragraph (a) '" 6 G. 5No. 35 and amending Acts. t Commenced 12th December, 1949 (Proclamation published Gazette, lOth December, 1949, p. 2341).

(b) In subsection 3D thereof the words "seven hundred and fifty pounds" are repealed and the words " one thousand pounds" are inserted in lieu of those repealed words. _Amendments 3. Section fourteen of the Principal Act is amended .of s. 14. as follows :_ (a) In paragraph (i.) of provision (A) of subsection one thereof the words "one thousand pounds" are repealed where those words appear in the first sub- paragraph of the said paragraph (i.) and the words "one thousand two hundred and fifty pounds" are inserted in lieu of those repealed words; the words " twenty-five pounds" are repealed where those words appear in the second subparagraph ofthe said paragraph (i.) and the words" fifty pounds" are inserted in lieu of those repealed words; and the words" two hundred pounds" are repealed where those words appear in the last subparagraph of (being the proviso to) the said paragTaph (i.) and the words" three hundred pounds" are inserted in lieu of those repealed words. (b) In paragraph (ii.) of the said provision (A) the words "one hundred and fifty pounds" are repealed and the words "two hundred and fifty pounds" are inserted in lieu of those repealed words. (c) In paragraph (iii.) of the said provision (A) the words "fifty pounds" are repealed and the words "one hundred pounds" are inserted in lieu of those repealed words. (d) In paragraph (iv.) of the said provision (A) the words" one hundred pounds" are repealed and the words ., two hundred pounds" are inserted in lieu of those repealed words. (e) In paragraph (a) of provision (B) of the said subsection one the words "sixty-six and two-thirds per centum" are repealed and the words" seventy-five per centum " are inserted in lieu of those repealed words; and the words " three pounds and eleven shillings " are repealed and the words " four pounds " are inserted in lieu of those repealed words.

(f) In paragraph (b) of the said provision (B) theJ words " three pounds and eleven shillings " are repealed and the words "four pounds" are inserted in lieu of those repealed words; the words " sixty-six and two- thirds per centum," appearing in quotation marks are repealed and the words "seventy-five per centum," are inserted in lieu of those repealed words; and the words "two pounds and seven shillings" are repealed and the words "three pounds " are inserted in lieu of those repealed words. (g) In paragraph (c) of the said provision (B) the words "two pounds" are repealed and the words " two pounds and ten shillings " are inserted in lieu of those repealed words; and the words " one pound " are repealed and the words " one pound and ten shillings" are inserted in lieu of those repealed words. (h) In paragraph (cl) of the said provision (B) the words " one pound " are repealed and the words " one pound and ten shillings " are inserted in lieu of those repealed words. (i) In paragraph (dl) of the said provision (B) the words "one pound" are repealed where those words appear in subparagraph (i.) of the said paragraph (dl) and the words "one pound and ten shillings" are inserted in lieu of those repealed words. (j) In paragraph (e) of the said provision (B) the words "five pounds and eleven shillings " are repealed and the words " seven pounds " are inserted in lieu of those repealed words; and the words "one thousand two hundred and fifty pounds" are repealed and the words" one thousand five hundred pounds" are inserted in lieu of those repealed words. (k) In paragraph (d) of provision (C) of the said subsection one the words " one thousand two hundred and fifty pounds" are repealed where those words appear in the second subparagraph of the said paragraph (d) and the words" one thousand five hundred pounds" are inserted in lieu of those repealed words. (l) In paragraph (f) of the said provision (C) the words "one thousand two hundred and fifty pounds" are repealed and the words " one thousand five hundred pounds" are inserted in lieu of those repealed words. 43. ~

Section 14B of the Principal Act is· amended as of s. 14B follows :_ (a) In paragraph (i.) of provision (A) of subsection two thereof the words "twenty pounds" are repealed and the words "fifty pounds" are inserted in lieu of those repealed words.

(b) In paragraph (iii.) of the said provision (A), the words "three pounds" are repealed and the words " three pounds ten shillings" are inserted in lieu of those repealed words; the words " one thousand pounds" are repealed and the words" one thousand two hundred and fifty pounds " are inserted in lieu of those repealed words; and the words "two hundred pounds" are repealed and the words" three hundred pounds " are inserted in lieu of those repealed words. (c) In paragraph (ii.) of provision (B) of subsection two thereof the words "four pounds two shillings and six pence" are repealed and the words " four pounds and ten shillings " are inserted in lieu of those repealed words. 5. Section 14D of the Principal Act is amended by Amendments the repeal of the words "twenty-five pounds" where of s. 14D. they occur in the proviso to subsection three thereof and in paragraph (c) of subsection five thereof and by the insertion, in lieu of those repealed words, of the words "fifty pounds ". 6. Clause eleven of the Schedule to the Principal Amendment6 Act is amended by repealing therein the words of Sch. cl. ll. " sixty-six and two-thirds per centum" and by inserting the words" seventy-five per centum" in lieu of those repealed words; and by repealing the words " three pounds eleven shillings" and by inserting the words "four pounds" in lieu of those repealed words.
