[ASSENTED TO 15TH DECEMBER, 1947.] B E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows ;- Short title 1. This Act may be cited as " The Workers' Oompen- and t t' sation Acts Amendment Act of 1947," and shall be read cons rue lOn. as one with *" The Workers' Oompensation Acts, 1916 to 1946," herein referred to as the Principal Act. Collective The Principal Act and this Act may collectively be titJe. cited as "The Workers' Oompensation Acts, 1916 to 1947." Amendment 2. Subparagraph (iv.) of the first paragraph of of s. 3 (2A). subsection (2A) of section three of the Principal Act is amended by repealing the words "or cut chaff or sugar- cane" and by inserting the words " or to cut chaff or to cut and/or haul and/or load sugar-cane or to press fodder" in lieu of such repealed words. Amendment 3. Section fourteen of the Principal Act is amended of s. 14 as follows ;_ (i.) In paragraph (i.) of provision (A) of subsection one thereof the words "eight hundred pounds" are repealed where such words appear in the first subparagraph of the said paragraph (i.) and the words" one thousand pounds " are inserted in lieu of such repealed words. * 6 G. 5 No. 35 and amending Acts.
1947. LABOUR. Workers' Compensation, Etc., Act. The said paragraph (i.) is further amended by inserting the words" and any lump sum paid as compen- sation under this Act " after the words " in redemption thereof" where such lastmentioned words appear in the last subparagraph of (being the proviso to) the said paragraph (i.) (ii.) In paragraph (a) of provision (B) of the said subsection one the words "three pounds and three shillings" are repealed and the words "three pounds and eleven shillings " are inserted in lieu of such repealed words. (iii.) In paragraph (b) of the said provision (B) the words "three pounds and three shillings " are repealed and the words "three pounds and eleven shillings " are inserted in lieu of such repealed words; the words " this subsection " are repealed and the words "this provision (B)" are inserted in lieu of such repealed words; and the words "two pounds and two shillings" are repealed and the words "two pounds and seven shillings" are inserted in lieu of such repealed words. (iv.) In paragraph (c) of the said provision (B) the words " one pound " are repealed and the words "two pounds" are inserted in lieu of such repealed words; the word " accident" is repealed and the word "injury" is inserted in lieu of such repealed word; and the words " ten shillings" are repealed and the words "one pound" are inserted in lieu of such repealed words. (v.) In paragraph (e) of the said provision (B) the words " five pounds " are repealed and the words " five pounds and eleven shillings " are inserted in lieu of such repealed words; and the words " one thousand pounds " are repealed and the words " one thousand two hundred and fifty pounds " are inserted in lieu thereof. (vi.) In paragraph (d) of provision (C) of the said subsection one the words" one thousand pounds" are repealed and the words "one thousand two hundred and fifty pounds" are inserted in lieu of such repealed words. (vii.) In paragraph (f) of the said provision (C) the words "one thousand pounds" are repealed and the words "one thousand two hundred and fifty pounds" are inserted in lieu of such repealed words. 127

LABOUR-LAND. 129 12 GEO. VI. No. 17,1948. Land Acts and Other Acts Amendment Act. 4. Section 14B of the Principal Act is amended as Amendment follows :_ of s. 14B. (i.) In paragraph (iii.) of provision A of subsection two thereof the words "eight hundred pounds" are repealed and the words "one thousand pounds" are inserted in lieu of such repealed words. (ii.) In paragraph (i.a) of provision B of the said subsection two the words" twelve shillings and six pence" are repealed and the words " one pound " ar8 inserted in lieu of such repealed words. (iii.) In the proviso to paragraph (ii.) of the said provision B the words" fifty-five shillings" are repealed and the words" three pounds two shillings and six pence" are inserted in lieu of such repealed words; and the words "or the sum of one thousand pounds in all, irrespective of the period during which the incapacity continues" are repealed.
