THE WORKERS' OOMPENSA- [ASSENTED TO 20TH DECEMBER, 1934.] TION ACTS AMENDMENT ACT OF 1934. B E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. This Act may be cited as "The Workers' Short title Compensation Acts Amendment Act of 1934," and shall : ~ ~structioD be read as one with *" The Workers' Compensation Acts, of Act. 1916 to 1929," herein referred to as the Principal Act. The Principal Act and this Act may collectively qollective be cited as "The Workers' Compensation Acts, 1916 to tItle. 1934." Amendments of the Principal Act. 2. Subsection one of section fourteen of the Principal Amendment Act is amended, as follows :_ of s. 14 (1). (a) Paragraph (i.) in provision (A), commencing with the words "If the worker" and ending with the words" the said employer," is repealed and the followjng new paragraph (i.) is inserted in lieu thereof : - "(i.) If the worker leaves any dependants wholly dependent upon his earnings at the time of his death the sum of six hundred poundB : Provided that the amount of any weekly payments made under this Act and any lump sum in redemption thereof shall be dednet.ed from such sum; " (b) The paragraph in provision (B), commencing with the words" For each child under fourteen years of age" and ending with the words "whichever first occurs," is repealed and the following paragraph is inserted in lieu thereof :- "For each child under sixteen years of age and totally or mainly dependent upon the earnings of the injured worker, a weekly payment * 6 Geo. V., No. 39,1934. amounting to one-third of the difference between the aforesaid amount of two pounds fifteen shillings and the basic wage (as herein- after defined) shall be payable during the disablement of the worker or until a lump sum settlement has been made with the worker in respect of the accident, or until the age of sixteen is reached, whichever first occurs : " Amendment 3. Subsection two of section 14B of the Principal of s. 14B (2). Act is amended, as follows :__ (a) In paragraph (iii.) of provision A the words "fourteen years," where those words twice occur, are repealed and the words " sixteen years" are respectively inserted in lieu thereof. (b) In paragraph (ii.) of provision B the word " fourteen " where such word twice occurs, is repealed and the word " sixteen " is respectively inserted in lieu thereof.
