If Parliament passes a resolution disallowing any such rule, of which resolution notice has been given at any time within fourteen sitting days of such House after such rule has been laid before it, such rule shall thereupon cease to hlwe effect, but without prejudice to the validity of anything done in the meantime. (3.) For the purpose of this Schedule, the term" sitting days" shall mean days on which the House actually sits for the despatch of business: Provided always that if such rules are not duly laid before Parliament as hereinbefore prescribed they shall thereupon cease to have any force, effect, or operation whatsoever. 12639 An Act to Amend "The Workers' Compensation 20NGo.eo2. 2. THE WORKERS' [ASSENTED TO 17TH DECEMBER, 1929.] COMPENSA· TION ACTS B J1J it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, t~ E~~ ~ :: 9~ by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. This Act may be cited as "The . Workers' Com- Short title pensation Acts Amendment Act of 1929," and shall be ~ ~ ~ 9truction. read as one with *" The Workers' Compensation Acts, 1916 to 1926," herein referred to as the Principal Act. The Principal Act and this Act ma,y be collectively cited as "The Workers' Compensation Acts, 1916 to 1929." Amendments of the prz:ncipal Act. 2. Section three of the Principal Act is amended as follows:- (a) In subsection 2A, after the word" contractor" Amendment occurring in the second last line before the proviso to of s. 3. the said subsection, the words "and wages-men" are inserted; also, the words" a worker" occurring in the last line before the said proviso are repealed and the word " workers" is inserted in lieu thereof. (b) After the said proviso the following additional provisions are inserted, namely:- "For the purposes of this subsection the term "timber" shall mean and include sleepers, piles, poles, girders, logs, pit timber, or cord wood. * 6 Geo. Notwithstanding any provisions contained in any Act or law to the contrary, proceedings for the recovery of penalties imposed by this Act may be com- menced at any time within six months next after the fact of the commission of the offence charged comes to the knowledge of the Insurance Commissioner." o A f m s. en 1 d 4 m . ent of th 4 e . PPrrinocviipsiaolnA( Bct) iosf asmubesnedcetidonboyneomofitsteicntgionalflouwroteredns from and including the words "For each child under fourteen years of age," to and including" seven hundred and fifty pounds in all," and by i.nserting the following provisions in lieu thereof:- " For each child, under fourteen years of age and totally or mainly dependent upon the earnings of the injured worker at the date of the accident, a weekly payment amounting to one-third of the difference between the afore- said amount of two pounds fifteen shillings and the basic wage (as hereinafter defined) shall be payable during the disablement of the worker or until a lump sum settlement has been made with the worker in respect of the accident, or until the age of fourteen is reached, whichever first occurs: Provided that the total amount payable per week in respect of all such children shall not exceed the difference between the afore- said amount of two pounds fifteen shillings and the basic wage. The total weekly amount payable under para- graph (B) of this section to the injured worker shall not exceed the said basic wage (or a sum per week equivalent to the weekly wages of the worker, computed as for one ful1 week of constant employment at the

For the purposes of the aforesaid provisions, the term" basic wage" shall mean and include a basic wage declaration for the time being in force in the State, whether so declared by the Board of Trade and Arbitration consti- tuted under the provisions of *" The Industrial Arbitration Acts, 1916 to 1926" (or any Act amending the same or any Board or Court or other tribunal which may be appointed in lieu of the said Board of Trade and Arbitration) or by statute, being a declara- tion, subject to such last-mentioned Acts, as to the minimum rate of wages to be paid to male employees in Brisbane." Paragraph (ii.) of subsection two of the said section is also amended by inserting after the word" mainten- ance" the words" or wages." 5. Section 14A of the Principal Act is amended as Amendment follows :_ of s. 14A. (a) In paragraph (a) of the said section, all words from and including "whether before" to and including the words "after that date" are repealed. (b) Before the ,vords "disease were a" occurring after paragraph (d) of the said section the words" death or incapacity by the" are inserted. 6. Section 14B of the Principal Act is amended as Amendment follows :_ of s. 14B. (a) In subsection one of the said section, the words " on or after the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen," are repealed. (b) Before the words "disease were a" occurring after paragraph (d) of the said subsection one the words " death or incapacity by the" are inserted. (c) In the paragraph of the said subsection one beginning with)he words" Subject to this Act, where such worker" the word "such" is repealed and the word "a" is inserted in lieu thereof; also, the words * 7 Geo. In the said paragraph, the italics to the paragraphs namely (a), (b), (c), and (d) are reptaled and the italics (e), (f), (y), and (h) are inserted in lieu thereof. In the paragraph (a), now (e), after the words " three hundred days" the words and brackets" (provided that a period of not more than fifteen years has elapsed since ceasing such employment)" are inserted. Also, in the paragraph (b), now (f), after the words " five hundred days" the words and brackets" (provided that a period of not more than fifteen years has elapsed since ceasing such employment)" are inserted.
