Wool Research and Development
Corporation Regulations
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia,
acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following
Regulations under the Primary Industries and Energy Research and Development
Act 1989.

Citation
1.These
Regulations may be cited as the Wool Research and Development Corporation
Regulations.
Commencement
2. These Regulations commence on 1 July 1991.
Interpretation
3. In these
Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears:
“Act” means the Primary
Industries and Energy Research and Development Act 1989;
“Research Corporation”
means the Wool Research and Development Corporation established under
regulation 4;
“Research Council” has
the same meaning as it had in the Wool Marketing Act 1987 immediately
before that Act was repealed;
“shorn wool” has the
same meaning as in the Australian Wool Corporation Act 1991.
Establishment of the Research Corporation
4. For the purposes of
section 8 of the Act, an R & D Corporation, to be known as the Wool
Research and Development Corporation, is declared to be established in respect
of the wool industry.
Gross value of production of wool
5. (1) For
the purposes of subsection 32 (2) of the Act, the Minister must determine
the gross value of production of wool for a financial year (in this regulation
called the “relevant year”) in accordance with the formula:

A is the estimated
value of wool to be produced in the relevant year; and
B is the value of wool
produced in the 2 financial years immediately before the relevant year.
(2) In this regulation, a reference to the value
of wool produced or to be produced in a financial year is a reference to:
(a)the gross value of wool produced in that year;
or
as shown in the
official statistics supplied by the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and
Resource Economics.
Substitution for Research Council
6. For the purposes of
section 147A of the Act, the Research Corporation is substituted as a
party for the Research Council in respect of any agreements or instruments to
which the Research Council was a party immediately before the repeal of the Wool
Marketing Act 1987.
