An Act to Make Unlawful the Mercantile Custom THE WOOL DRAFT commonly known as the "Wool Draft ALLOWANCE ABOLITION Allowance," and for other purposes. ACT OF 1936. [ASSENTED TO 23RD OCTOBER, 1936.] Preamble. W HEREAS a mercantile custom prevails in Queensland of making to buyers of wool an allowance of one pound in everyone hundred and twelve pounds of wool purchased, which allowance is commonly referred to in the wool trade as the "wool draft allowance." And whereas it is considered that such allowance as aforesaid unduly and unfairly prejudices .growers. of wool- Be it therefore enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :- aSnhdort title 1. MERCANTILE. 1936. Wool Draft Allowance Abolition Act. any allowance, deduction, or rebate from the price agreed to be paid by a purchaser of wool for all wool purchased by him whereby the vendor of such wool shall not receive in full the sale price of all such wool, or whereby such purchaser shall not pay in full such purchase price, shall be guilty of an offence against this Act and liable to a penalty of not more than five hundred pounds. The provisions of this section shall apply to all wool and whether sold in a bale, fadge, butt, bag, or in any other kind of package ~ hatsoever : Provided that nothing in this section shall prevent or be deemed to prevent a broker or agent who receives the purchase price of any wool sold by him for or on behalf of his principal from deducting therefrom any commission which he is legally entitled to be paid or any costs, charges, and expenses which his principal has authorised him to incur in or in connection with such sale. 3.
