Wildlife (Game) (Amendment) Regulations 1996

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to make further provision in relation to the use of dogs for hunting sambar deer.

2. Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 87 of the Wildlife Act 1975.

3. Principal Regulations

In these Regulations, the Wildlife (Game) Regulations 19901 are called the Principal Regulations.

4. New regulation 20 inserted

For regulation 20 of the Principal Regulations, substitute—

Wildlife (Game) (Amendment) Regulations 1996

r. 5 S.R. No. 98/1996

"20. Use of dogs for hunting deer

(1) A person must not use a dog for hunting deer

other than—

(a)

a scent trailing hound for the purpose of scent trailing sambar deer; or

(b)

a gun dog for pointing or flushing sambar deer.

Penalty: 10 penalty units.

(2) A person must not use a scent trailing hound

or gun dog for hunting sambar deer in any boundary of which is shown in greater detail on the plan in Part 2 of that Schedule. Penalty: 10 penalty units.

(3) A person who uses a dog for hunting deer in
accordance with this regulation, must ensure
that the dog is wearing a collar to which is
securely attached a metal tag or label on
which is legibly printed the name and
address or name, address and telephone
number of the owner of the dog.

Penalty: 10 penalty units.".

5. New Sixth Schedule inserted

After the Fifth Schedule to the Principal
Regulations, insert—
