1. Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to amend the provide an alternative procedure for making a disclosure to a public body under the Whistleblowers Protection Act 2001.

2. Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 112 of the Whistleblowers Protection Act 2001.

3.  Alternative procedure for disclosure to public bodies

(1) In regulation 8(1) of the Whistleblowers

Protection Regulations 20011 after "of the public body" insert "or to a member or an officer or employee of a public body agent of the public body".

(2) In regulation 8(2) of the Whistleblowers

Protection Regulations 2001—

(a)	in paragraph (a) after "public body" insert "or to a public body agent of the public body";
(b)	in paragraph (b) after "public body" insert "or of a public body agent of the public body".

(3) After regulation 8(2) of the Whistleblowers

Protection Regulations 2001 insert—

'(3) In this regulation "public body agent"

means a public body appointed by a public body as its agent for receiving disclosures under the Act.'.
