AN ACT to amend the Wheat Industry Stabilisation

Aet, 1948.

BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty,by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title.	1 This Act may be cited as the Wheat Industry Stabilisation Act Amendment Act, 1949, and shall be read as one with the Wheat Industry Stabilisation Act, 1948 (Act No. 75 of 1948), hereinafter referred to as the principal Act.

Amendment

s. 4. 3. Section four of the principal Act is amended by

(a)	adding after the word "growers" in line five of paragraph (a) of subsection (3), the words "until four persons who shall be elected by the Farmers' Union of -Western Australia (Inc.) are appointed to represent the interests of wheat growers";
(b)	adding after the word "receivers" in line five of paragraph (b) of subsection (3), the words "until the coming into operation of the Wheat Industry Stabilisation Act Amendment Act. 1949, when the person occupying for the time being the office of Manager of Co-operative Bulk Handling Limited shall represent the interests of licensed receivers";

(c) adding after the word "nominated" where it occurs firstly in line one and secondly in line four of subsection (4), the words "or elected as the case may be";

(d)	adding after the word "Act" in line one of subsection (5), the words "in general and of the provisions of paragraphs (a) and (b) of subsection (3) of this section in particular";
(e)	adding after subsection (7) the following sub-

section:

(7a) When any office of member elected to represent the interests of wheat growers, is about to become vacant by effiuxion of the term for which the occupant was appointed, the Farmers' Union of Western Australia (Inc.) shall elect a person for appointment to the vacancy, and the fact that a person is an occupant of the office at the time of nomination for the election shall not prejudice his right to nominate.

4. Subsection (1) of section five of this Act is Amendment of s, 5.

amended by adding after the word "State" in line six, the words "and no reconstitution of the State Board by change in the representation of interests pursuant to paragraphs (a) or (b) of subsection (3) of section four of this Act, shall affect a nomination by the State Board or appointment to the Board made under this section of any person while a member of the State Board until the nomination by the State Board as reconstituted and the appointment to the Board of some other member of the State Board in his stead is made."

5.    Section eighteen of the principal Act is amended =rent

by adding after the word "Act" in subsection (1), line two, and in subsection (2), line one, the words "or the regulations".
