AN ACT to amend the Western Australian Water Resources Council Act 1982 and for incidental and other purposes.

[Assented to 17 May 1984.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as f ollows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Western ctlitattlieon

Australian Water Resources Council Amendment

(2) In this Act the Western Australian Water Resources Council Act 1982 is referred to as the principal Act. of 1982.

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Western Australian Water Resources Council Act 1982-1984.

Commence-

ment. 2. This Act shall come into operation on the twenty-eighth day after the day on which it is assented to by the Governor.

Section 4	3. Section 4 of the principal Act is amended
amended.

(a) in subsection (2)-

(i)  by deleting "appointed by the Governor"; and

(ii)    by repealing paragraph (a) and sub- stituting the following paragraph-

" (a) 9 members appointed by the

Governor; "; and

(b) by inserting after subsection (4) the following subsection

(4a) A nomination for the purposes of subsection (4) may be made from time to time and may be expressed to operate for a period or in such circum- stances as are specified in the instru- ment of nomination. ".

Section 5	4. Section 5 of the principal Act is amended in

be a member" and substituting the following-

" an appointed member ".

Section 6	5. Section 6 of the principal Act is amended in subsection (2) by deleting "a member" where first occurring in subsection (2) and substituting the following-

6.    Section 8 of the principal Act is amended by amended.

ment of the holder of an office specified in section 4 (4) of the principal Act as in force immediately before the coming into operation of this Act as an ex officio member of the Western Australian Water Resources Council is hereby determined but the holder of any such office shall continue in office as such ex officio member after the coming into operation of this Act as though his appointment was effected by virtue of section 4 of the principal Act as amended by section 3 of this Act.
