AN ACT to amend the Western Australian Marine
Act, 1948-1954.
[Assented to 10th September, 1957.]
BE it enacted, by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
Short title
| and citation | 1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Western |
Australian Marine Act Amendment Act, 1957.
(2) In this Act the Western Australian Marine
Act, 1948-1954,
Act No. 72 of 1948 as amended by Acts Nos. 62 of 1952, 82 of 1953, and 73 of 1954,
is referred to as the principal Act.

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Western Australian Marine Act, 1948-1957.
2. Section ninety-six of the principal Act is aanded.

| (a) | by substituting for the passage, ", within twenty-four hours" in line fourteen of sub- section (1), the words, "shall immediately"; |
| (b) | by deleting the passage, "or so soon there- after as possible, shall" in lines fifteen and sixteen of subsection (1); |
| (c) | by substituting for the word, "letter" in line seventeen of subsection (1), the words, "the fastest means of communication available to him"; |
| (d) | by deleting the words, "signed by the master or owner and" in line seventeen of subsec- tion (1); |
| (e) | by adding after the word, "mates" in line twenty-one of subsection (1), the words, "and owner"; and |
| (f) | by adding after the word, "is" being the last word in subsection (1), the passage, ", and the master or owner of the ship shall if possible within twenty-four hours after the happening of any of those events, or if not possible within twenty-four hours then as soon as is possible after the happening of any of those events, send to the Department by letter a report signed by the master or owner and containing all of those particu- lars and confirming the firstmentioned report." |
