AN ACT to amend the Western Australian Institute

of Technology Act, 1966-1969.

[Assented to 5th November, 1970.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title	1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Western

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Western Australian Institute of Tech- nology Act, 1966-1970.

2.	Section 7 of the principal Act is amended by	Amendment

adding after the word "appropriate", in line two	of the(Functions
of paragraph (f), the passage "degrees,".	Institute.)
Amendment

3. Section 9 of the principal Act is amended to s. 9. (Constitu-

(a) by deleting paragraph (e);	tion of
Council.)

(b) by adding after paragraph (g) a paragraph as follows-

(ga) two persons who are members of the Student Guild, one at least being a voting member of its Council, and who are elected by the voting members of that Council after nomination by such members of that Guild as are prescribed by Statute, the provisions of which may differ in respect of each person to be so elected; ;

(c)	by adding after the word "appointed", in line three of subsection (3) the passage "under paragraph (ga) of subsection (1) of this section or"; and
(d)	by adding after subsection (3) a subsection as follows

(3a) Each member appointed under paragraph (ga) of subsection (1) of this section holds office as a member for a term of one year from the date of his appointment and shall not be so appoint- ed more than twice. .

4. Section 18 of the principal Act is amended— Amendment to s. 18.
