I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910.

An Ordinance to amend the Weights and Measures Ordinance 1929

Short title

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Weights and Measures

(Amendment) Ordinance 1983}

Principal Ordinance

2. In this Ordinance, "Principal Ordinance" means the Weights and

Measures Ordinance 1929}

inserted: 

Profit from making, &c, of weights, measures or weighing instruments

3. Section 9 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting "prescribed

fee" and substituting "fee determined by the Minister under section 46A for the

purposes of this section".

Fees for verifying, stamping and adjusting

4. Section 30 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting "shall be as prescribed" and substituting "and for adjusting weights and measures shall be the fees determined by the Minister under section 46A for the purposes of this section".

5. After section 46 of the Principal Ordinance the following section is

Power of Minister to determine fees

"46A. The Minister may, by notice in writing published in the Gazette,

determine fees for the purposes of this Ordinance.".

Regulations

6. Section 48 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting paragraph

( l ) ( u ) .
