WEIGHTS AND MEASURES ( A M E N D M E N T ) ACT.

Act No. 15, 1960.

An Act to extend the power to make regulations relating to the packaging of goods in standard packs; for this purpose to amend the Weights and Measures Act, 1915, as amended by sub­ sequent Acts; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 31st March, I960.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by
and with the advice and consent of the Legislative
Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in
Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as
follows : —

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the "Weights and

Measures (Amendment) Act, 1960".

(2) The "Weights and Measures Act, 1915, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Weights and Measures Act, 1915-1960.

(b)

2.      (1) The Weights and Measures Act, 1915, as amended

by subsequent Acts, is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (ol) of section fifty- seven the words "therein specified";
(b) by inserting at the end of the same section the following new subsection : —

(2) Any regulation made under the powers conferred by paragraph (o l ) of subsection one of this section may apply—

(a) to goods generally;

(b)

to any specified goods or any specified class or classes of goods, or to any specified goods and any specified class or classes of goods;

(c) to all goods other than—

(i)   specified goods or any specified class or classes of goods; or

(ii)   specified goods and any specified class or classes of goods.

(2) Subsection one of this section shall be deemed to have commenced upon the twelfth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

(3) A person shall not, by reason of the enactment of this Act, be guilty of an offence in respect of anything done or omitted to be done by him before the day on which Her Majesty's assent to this Act is signified if he would not have been so guilty if this Act had not been enacted.
