HEREAS an Ordinance of the Governor, with the advice Preamble.

was passed on the Eighteenth day of February, One Thousand

W and consent of the Legislative Council of South Australia,

Eight Hundred and Fortythree, intituled C L An Act for establishing 6 Viot., NO. 13.

And whereas since the passing of the said Ordinahce certain Weights and Measures of the Standard now in force and use in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, denomiuated Imperial Weights and Measures ( i t Schedule whereof marked with the letter A is hereunto annexed), have b e ~ n received from Great Britain, and are now deposited' in the said Surveyor-General's Office: And whereas on examination the former Standards legalized by the recited

Ordinance

Standard Weights and Measures in the Province of South Australia, and for the prevention of the use of' such as are false and deficient,"

whereby it was amongst other things enacted, that the several Weights and Measures therein referred to, then deposited in the Surveyor-General's Office in Adelaide should be, and were declared

to be the Etandard Weights and Measures of the Province of South

Australia:

Ordinance have been found to be defective, and it is expedient to suoersede the same, and to establish the last-received Weights and

as Standards:

Be it therefore Enacted, by His Excellency the Governor o f South Australia with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, That from and after the passing hereof, the before-recited Ordinance; in so far as it enacts that the several Weights and Measures. therein mentioned shall be the Standard Weights and Measures, and in so far as the provisions of the said recited Ordi- nance have reference to the said Weights and Measures, shall be, and the same is, hereby repealcd.

IT. And be it Enacted, That the several Weights and Measures now last deposited in the Surveyor-General's Office, in Adelaide, as aforesaid, shall be therein safely kept, and shall be, and they are hereby declared to be, the Standard Weights and Measures of the Province of South Australia,

III. Provided always, and be it farther Enacted, That this Ordi- nance shall be construed together with the recited Ordinance, and the whole enactments and provisions thereof, shall be in force and apply to' the Standards hereby established, as effectually as before the passing hereof they were or might have been in force and applied

to the Standards declared by the recited Ordinance.
