Weapons Regulations1 (Amendment)

The Australian Capital Territory Executive makes the following Regulations under the Weapons Act 1991.

Commencement

1.  These Regulations commence on the day on which they are notified in the Gazette.

Principal Regulations

2.  In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” means the Weapons Regulations.

Insertion

3.  After regulation 5 of the Principal Regulations the following regulation is inserted:

Exemption—Australian Defence Industries

“5A.  (1)  This regulation applies to—

(a)Australian Defence Industries Ltd;

(b)an officer of Australian Defence Industries Ltd while performing functions on behalf of Australian Defence Industries Ltd; and

(c)an employee of Australian Defence Industries Ltd in the course of his or her employment with Australian Defence Industries Ltd.

“(2)  A person to whom this regulation applies who complies with arrangements approved by the Registrar for the security and storage of weapons is, while so complying, exempted from the Act.

“(3)  An approval under subregulation (2)—

(a)shall be in writing; and

(b)is not effective until notified to Australian Defence Industries Ltd.”.
