An Act to provide for the suspension of the operation of Part VIIIA of the Electricity and Water Act 1988 and for related purposes

Short title

1.  This Act may be cited as the Water Supply (Chemical Treatment) Act 1989.1

Principal Act

2.  In this Act, “Principal Act” means the Electricity and Water Act 1988.

Suspension of operation of Part VIIIA of Electricity and Water Act

3.  Part VIIIA of the Principal Act has no effect during the period commencing on the commencement of this Act and ending at the expiration of 31 August 1991.

Protection from prosecution

4. Notwithstanding sections 38 and 39 of the Interpretation Act 1967, proceedings do not lie in respect of an offence against section 74B of the Principal Act alleged to have been committed before the commencement of this Act.
