Water Pollution Regulations1 (Amendment)

The Australian Capital Territory Executive makes the following Regulations under the Water Pollution Act 1984.

Principal Regulations

1.  In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” means the Water Pollution Regulations.

Commencement

2.  These Regulations commence on the day on which they are notified in the Gazette.

Interpretation

3.  Regulation 2 of the Principal Regulations is amended—

(a)by omitting from paragraphs (2) (a), (b) and (c) “Column 1 of”;

(b)by omitting from paragraphs (2) (a), (b) and (c) “column” and substituting “Schedule”; and

(c)by omitting from paragraph (2) (c) “4” and substituting “3”.

Discharge into Class P waters

4.  Regulation 8 of the Principal Regulations is amended—

(a)by omitting from subregulation (5) all words from and including “unless—” and substituting the following:

“unless the waste has been treated according to a method of disinfection which the Authority, by notice in the Gazette, declares to be acceptable.”; and

(b)by omitting subregulation (7).

Discharge into Class C waters

5.  Regulation 9 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting subregulations (2), (3), (5) and (7) to (13) (inclusive).

Discharge into Class R waters

6.  Regulation 10 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting subregulations (2), (3), (4), (6) and (8) to (13) (inclusive).

Discharge into Class O waters

7.  Regulation 11 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting subregulations (2), (5) and (6).

Discharge into Class U waters

8.  Regulation 12 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting subregulations (2) and (3).

Repeal of Part

9.  Part IV of the Principal Regulations is repealed.

10.  Schedules 1, 2 and 4 to the Principal Regulations are repealed and the following Schedules substituted:
