Explanatory note

The object of this proclamation is to commence the whole of the Water Management Act 2000 other than those provisions relating to harvestable rights, access licences, approvals and the Water Investment Trust, and other than those provisions that repeal and amend other Acts. For the time being, matters relating to harvestable rights, licences and approvals will continue to be dealt with by the Rivers and Foreshores Improvement Act 1948 and the Water Act 1912.
