WATER AUTHORITY AMENDMENT

ACT

No. 48 of 1987

AN ACT to amend the Water Authority Act 1984 and for

connected purposes.

[Assented to 3 October 1987.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Water Authority Amendment Act

No. 48)

Commencement

2. This Act shall come into operation on a day to be fixed by

proclamation.

Principal Act

3. In this Act the Water Authority Act 1984* is referred to as the

principal Act.

Section 11 amended

4. (1) Section 11 of the principal Act is amended in subsection (1)-

(a)

by deleting paragraph (c) and substituting the following paragraph-

(c)

2 persons, being officers or other employees of the Authority-

(i)   one of whom is, under the regulations, elected to office by persons employed on the salaried staff of the Authority; and

(ii)   one of whom is, under the regulations, elected to office by persons employed by the Authority who are paid wages; "; and

(b)

in paragraph (d), by deleting "6" and substituting the following

(2) Where, upon the coming into operation of this Act, any portion of the term of office of a person holding office under section 11 (1) (c) of the principal Act remains unexpired, that person shall, subject to that Act, hold office for the unexpired portion of his term as if he were a person mentioned in section 11 (1) (c) (i) of that Act as amended by this Act.

Section 13 amended

5. Section 13 of the principal Act is amended in subsection (3) by

deleting "5" and substituting the following-

" 6 ".
