Management Act 1995.

Explanatory note

Under section 7 2 of the Waste Minimisation and Management Act 1995, the occupier of a licensed waste facility is required to pay a contribution in respect of each tonne of waste that is received at the facility. The contribution is currently $10 per tonne in the case of waste that is received (or that has been generated) in the Sydney metropolitan area, and $4 per tonne in the case of waste that is received (or that has been generated) in the extended regulated area, being the area generally comprising the Central Coast, Hunter and Illararra regions.

The object of this Regulation is to increase the contribution to $17 in the case of waste received or generated in the Sydney metropolitan area, and to $8 in the case of waste received or generated in the extended regulated area. This Regulation is made under the Waste Minimisation and Management Act 1995, including sections 72 and 87 (the general regulation making power).

1 Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Waste Minimisation and Management

Amendment (Contributions) Regulation 1998.

2 Commencement

This Regulation commences on 1 Ju ly 1998.

3 Amendment of Waste Minimisation and Management Regulation

1996

The Waste Minimisation and Management Regulation I996 is amended as set out in Schedule 1 .

Omit “$ 1 0” from clause 18 (1) (a), (c) and (d) wherever occurring.

Insert instead “$17”.
