WASTE MINIMISATION AND MANAGEMENT ACT 1995
No 102—PROCLAMATION

I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Waste Minimisation and Management Act 1995, do, by this my Proclamation:
(a)
appoint 1 November 1996 as the day on which the following provisions of that Act commence:
• sections 44–47 and 49–62, • sections 72 and 90 (b), • Schedule 6.2 [ l] , •
Schedule 6.9 [1], [3], [5], [6], [8], [11], [12], [14] (except to the extent to which that item would repeal provisions relating to transportation of waste and creation of trade waste) and [15], and
(b)
appoint 30 June 1997 as the day on which the following provisions of that Act commence:
• section 90 (a), •
Schedule 6.9 [4], [7], [14] (to the extent to which that item would repeal provisions relating to transportation of waste and creation of trade waste), [23] and [24].

Waste Minimisation and Management Act 1995 No 102—Proclamation
EXPLANATORY NOTE
The object of this Proclamation is to commence the provisions of the Waste Minimisation
and Management Act 1995 that provide the statutory framework for the new waste
management licensing scheme. The main part of the Act commenced on 19 January 1996. The new licensing and contributions scheme for waste facilities will commence on 1 November 1996. The licensing and registration requirements under the Waste Recycling and Processing Service Act 1970 in relation to trade waste premises and waste transporters will continue until 30 June 1997 so as to coincide with the implementation of the new licensing scheme for waste activities and transporters.
