WASTE DISPOSAL ACT 1970 - REGULATION

(Relating to fees)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive

Council, and in pursuance of the Waste Disposal Act 1970, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on 11 January 1991.

Amendments

2. The Metropolitan Waste Disposal Authority Depot Contribution

Regulations are amended:

(a)

by omitting Regulation 1 (1) and by inserting instead the following clause:

(1) These Regulation may be cited as the Waste

Management Authority Depot Contribution Regulations 1971.

(b)

by omitting from Regulation 3 (1) the matter "56 cents" and by inserting instead the matter "$2.00".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The objects of this Regulation are:

(a) to change the citation of the Regulations from the Metropolitan Waste Disposal Authority Depot Contribution Regulations to the Waste Management Authority Depot Contribution Regulations 1971. This is to reflect changes made to the name of the Authority and
(b) to increase (from 56 cents to $2.00) the contribution for each tonne of waste transported into a depot within the Metropolitan Waste Disposal Region. The Waste Disposal Act 1970 provides, in section 46, that such a contribution is also payable for waste transported into a regional depot. These contributions are payable for the treatment, storage and disposal of the waste.
