I, WARREN SNOWDON, Minister for Defence Science and Personnel for the Minister for Defence, make this Declaration under subsection 3C (1) of the Defence Force (Home Loans Assistance) Act 1990.

1              Name of Declaration

This Declaration is the Warlike service – OPERATION KRUGER Declaration 2009.

2              Commencement

This Declaration is taken to have commenced on 1 January 2009.

3              Warlike service – OPERATION KRUGER

For subsection 3C (1) of the Defence Force (Home Loans Assistance) Act 1990, duty is warlike service if it is rendered:

(a)   in an area of operations that comprises Iraq; and

(b)   as a member of the Australian Defence Force allotted for duty on OPERATION KRUGER.
