STATUTORY RULES.
REGULATION UNDER THE WAR PRECAUTIONS ACT 1914–1916.
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over
the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive
Council hereby make the following regulations under the

War Precautions (Tin Plates) Regulation.
2. (1) No person, firm or company shall acquire or purchase tin plates except with the consent in writing of the Minister and in accordance with the provisions of a licence to acquire or purchase tin plate granted under the authority of the Minister and signed by a person duty authorized in that behalf by the Minister.(2) No person, firm or company shall assign or sell tin plates except to a person, firm or company to whom or which such a licence has been granted.
3. (1) On or before the fourth day of each month, every person, firm, or company who or which, during the preceding month, was in possession of tin plates, shall post or deliver to the Directors of Munitions, Collins House, Collins-street, Melbourne, a return showing—(
a ) the quantity and full trade description of each class of tin plates in his or its possession on the last day of the preceding month;(
b ) the quantity and full trade description of each class of tin plates acquired or purchased by him or it during the preceding month; and(
c ) the quantity and full trade description of each class of tin plates assigned or sold by him or it during the preceding month:
Provided that the first return shall be due on the thirteenth day of January, One thousand nine hundred and seventeen, and shall show only the stocks held on the thirtieth day of December, One thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

(2) Each monthly return shall be accompanied by a statutory declaration as to the accuracy of the information contained therein.
(3) In the case of tin plates acquired or purchased, the person, firm or company furnishing the return shall enter in the return—opposite to the statement of the quantity—
(
a ) where the tin plates are acquired or purchased, from over-seas, the word “Imported” and(
b ) where the tin plates are acquired or purchased in accordance with a licence issued under these Regulations, the number of the licence.(4) In the case of tin plates assigned or delivered the person, firm or company furnishing the return shall show—
(
a ) each assignment or sale as a separate item;(
b ) the name of the person, firm or company to whom or which each assignment or sale made; and(
c ) the number of the licence in accordance with which each assignment or sale was made.
4. The Minister may, by notice published in theGazette, prohibit, either absolutely or without his consent, the use of tin plates for any purpose or purposes specified in the notice.
5. After a notice has been published in theGazette in pursuance of the last preceding Regulation any person firm or company who or which uses tin plates for any purpose or purposes specified therein shall be guilty of an offence.
