REGULATIONS UNDER THE WAR PRECAUTIONS ACT 1914-1916.

I, SIR ARTHUR STANLEY, Governor of the State of Victoria and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting as the Deputy of the Governor-General in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council hereby make the following regulation under the War Precautions Act 1914-1916 to come into operation forthwith.

Amendment of the War Precautions (Stocks of Goods) Regulations.

(Statutory Rules 1917, No. 168).

The War Precautions (Stocks of Goods) Regulations are amended by adding after regulation 6 thereof the following regulation:—

Power to requisition prescribed goods

“7. (1) The Minister, or any person duly authorized in that behalf by him may, by writing under his hand, requisition any prescribed goods, and require the owner of any such goods to deliver them up to the person, and at the time and place, specified in the requisition.

“(2) Any person who refuses or fails to comply with any requirement made under this regulation, shall be guilty of an offence.

“(3) The compensation payable to an owner in respect of any goods requisitioned in pursuance of this regulation shall, in default of agreement, be assessed on such basis as the Minister determines.”
