PROVISIONAL REGULATIONS UNDER THE WAR PRECAUTIONS ACT 1914-1915.

War Precautions Regulations 1915—Regulation 2—Amendment

Regulations 17c and 46b—Additions.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby certify that, on account of urgency, the following Regulations under the WarPrecautions Act 1914-1915 should come into operation, and make the Regulations to come into operation forthwith as Provisional Regulations.

War Precautions Regulations 1915.

Amendments and Additions.

1. Paragraph 2 is amended by omitting the words—

“His Majesty’s Naval and Military Forces” include the Commonwealth Naval and Military Forces; and “Naval or Military Forces” and “Forces” include both His Majesty’s Forces and the Commonwealth Forces,

and substituting in their place the words—

“His Majesty’s Naval and Military Forces” include the Commonwealth Naval and Military Forces and the Naval and Military Forces of any part of the British Empire; and “Naval or Military Forces” and “Forces” include His Majesty’s Forces and the Commonwealth Forces, and the Naval or Military Forces of any part of the British Empire.

2. The following now paragraph is inserted after paragraph 17b:—

Power to detail passports.

17c. (1) The competent naval or military authority or any person authorized by him or any officer of Customs or of police may take possession of any passport in the possession of any person entering the Commonwealth or of any official document in the possession of my such person and intended to establish the nationality and identity of such person.

(2) Any passport or other official document taken under the power conferred by this Regulation may be detained by any officer authorized by the Minister in that behalf until the person from whom it was taken leaves the Commonwealth.

3. The following new paragraph is inserted after paragraph 46a:—

Personating officers, &c.

46b. If any person personates or falsely represents himself to be an officer of the Naval or Military Forces or a person employed by the Imperial Government or by the Government of the Commonwealth or of any State or of any part of the British Empire, he shall be guilty of an offence against the Act.
