REGULATIONS UNNDR THE WAR PRECAUTIONS ACT 1914-1916.

War Precautions Regulations 1915—Regulations 47c and 58a—Additions.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the War Precautions Act 1914-1916 to come into operation forthwith.

War Precaution Regulations 1915.

Additions.

The following new Regulation is inserted after Regulation 47b:—

Defacing Posters, &c.

47c. (1) Any person who without lawful authority damages, defaces, removes or destroys any poster, notice or other document displayed by or under the authority of the Department of Defence or the Department of the Navy or any officer of either of those Departments or any War Council, Recruiting Committee or other body acting in aid of recruiting shall be guilty of an offence against the Act.

(2) In any proceedings for an offence under this Regulation the averment of the prosecutor that a poster, notice or other document was displayed by or under the authority of the Department of Defence or the Department of the Navy or any officer of either of those Departments or any War Council, Recruiting Committee or other body acting in aid of recruiting shall be deemed to be proved in the absence of proof to the contrary.

The following new Regulation is inserted after Regulation 58a:—

Information, &c.to be valid if in terms of Act.

58a.The description in any complaint, information, or summons of any offence against the Act in the words of the Act or of any Regulation or Order under the Act or of any document made or issued under any such regulation or Order, or in similar words, shall be sufficient in law.
