REGULATION UNDER THE WAR PRECAUTIONS ACT 1914-1916.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation under the War Precautions Act 1914-1916, to come into operation forthwith.

The War Precautions Regulations 1915 are amended by inserting next after regulation 41c the following regulation:—

“41d. (1) The owners, lessees and managers of all moving picture theatres and the managers of all exhibitions of moving pictures shall, if so required by the State Recruiting Committee or by any person acting under its authority—

(a) exhibit free of charge and for a period or periods not exceeding in the aggregate ten minutes during each programme, any film for recruiting purposes supplied by the State Recruiting Committee or by any person acting under its authority; and

(b) while any such film is being exhibited, allow any person employed in obtaining recruits to make a speech not exceeding five minutes in delivery appealing for recruits.

(2) Any person who fails to exhibit a film in accordance with this regulation, or who prevents, hinders or obstructs the delivery of a speech in accordance with this regulation, shall be guilty of an offence against the Act.”
