1918. No. 258.

REGULATION UNDER THE WAR PRECAUTIONS ACT 1914-1916.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation under the War Precautions Act 1914-16, to come into operation forthwith.

Amendment of War Precautions Regulations as Amended to this Date.

The War Precautions Regulations are amended by inserting therein after regulation 28d the following regulation:—

Power to destroy seized postal articles.

“28e. Any—

(a) postal articles as defined by the Post and Telegraph Act 1901-1916 which have been withheld from delivery; and

(b) newspapers, magazines, periodicals or other publications which have been seized

in pursuance of the Proclamation issued by the Governor-General on the twenty-fourth day of September, 1914, and published in the Gazette of the twenty-sixth day of September, 1914, or in pursuance of any regulation made under the War Precautions Act 1914-1916, may, if in the opinion of the Deputy Chief Censor it is desirable so to do, be destroyed.”
