1921. No. 25.

REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1918.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1918 to come into operation forthwith.

War Financial Regulations—Amendments.

1. Regulation 32 is amended by adding thereto the following new sub-regulation:—

“(h) A married member of the Australian Imperial Force whose total pay and allowances is less than as shown in the following scale, may, from the 1st April, 1920, be paid the difference between such pay and allowances, and the rates shown in the table hereunder:—

For member and wife only, 60s. per week.

For member, wife and one child under 16 years of age, 70s. per week.

For member, wife, and two children under 16 years of age, 77s. 6d. per week.

For member, wife and three children under 16 years of age, 82s. 6d. per week.

For each additional child under 16 years of age, 5s. per week.

2. Regulation 57a is amended as follows:—

(i) Insert “(i)” immediately after 57a.

(ii) In the last line of the regulation delete the words “in any such case” and substitute therefor the words “except as provided in sub-regulation (ii) of this regulation.”

(iii) Insert the following new sub-regulation:—

(ii) A married member of the Australian Imperial Force (Home Service) whose total pay and allowances (including the issue of rations in kind) is less than as shown in the following scale may, from the 1st

April, 1920, be paid the difference between such pay and allowances, and the rates shown in the table hereunder:—

For member and wife only, 60s. per week.

For member, wife and one child under 18 years of age, 70s. per week.

For member, wife and two children under 16 years age, 77s. 6d. per week.

For member, wife and three children under 16 years of age, 82s. 6d. per week.

For each additional child under 16 years of age, 5s. per week.
