REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1917.

I,THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1917 to come into operation forthwith.

WAR FINANCIAL REGULATIONS.

Amendment.

War Financial Regulations are amended as follows:—

A. 469/16/11.

Regulation 1, delete “Cleaners and Waggonmen” and substitute “Cleaners, Waggonmen, Privates” in lieu thereof.

D. 556/44/160.

Regulation 2 is repealed, and the following Regulation made in lieu thereof:—

2. On and from date of embarkation, members of the Australian Imperial Force, with the exception of Nurses and Masseuses, shall be paid at the following rates of pay:—

Regulation 15, delete the words “Warrant Officer………………..1s.”

The following new Regulation is inserted next after Regulation 28:—

28a. When there is no Section, Army Medical Corps Sea Transport Staff, on board a transport, soldiers of the Army Medical Corps may be appointed, for the voyage only, to act as Sergeants and Corporals (exclusive of any Dispensers or other specialists) in the following proportion to the number of troops:—

On transports carrying 700 troops or under...............................................

1 Sgt., 1 Cpl.

,,  over 700 troops and not more than 1,200 troops

1 Sgt., 2 Cpls.

2 Sgts., 2 Cpls.

 

They shall continue to receive pay as Privates, and shall be granted, extra duty pay whilst performing such duties at the following rates:—

The acting appointment and all allowances in respect of same will terminate immediately drafts have disembarked, or on the soldier’s services in the capacity of Acting Non-commissioned Officer being no longer required, whichever is the earlier.

E. 632/5/10.

Regulation 44 of War Financial Regulations is repealed, and the following new Regulation made in lieu thereof:—

44. Railway passes to their homes over Government or privately-owned lines may be granted to members of the Australian Imperial Force when on final leave. If no railway transport is available, coach or steamer fares may be allowed in lieu thereof.
