An Act to preumt the introductioa of

certain Vine Cut8ifig.s or Rooted

Vines.

HEREAS it is desirable to prevent the introduction of diseased Preamde.

W vine cuttings or rooted vines-Re it therefore enacted by thc

Governor of the Province of South Au.stralia, with the advice and

consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly of the

said Province, in this present Parliament assembled, as follows:

1. The Governor may, by a Proclamation to be published in the Proclamation of

or rooted vines, either absolutely or from any countries thcrein

named whose vineyards are infected, or may be suspected of being infected, by any kind of disease, whether such disease shall be caused by an insect named Ph9Zloxua Vastatrix, or from any other cause or causes whatsoever; and such Proclamation shall name a time within which no such vine cuttings or rooted vines shall be im- ported.

2. The (iovernor may from time to time, by a Proclamation to be Pmclamation

as to the whole or any of the countries rncntioned in the Proclama-

tion containing such prohibition.

3. Any person who sllall, during the continuance of any such P e n W.

prohibition, import or introduce any vine cuttings or rootcd vines from any country included in such Proclamation, shall forfeit and

pay a sum of not less than Ten Pounds nor more than One Hundred

Pounds:

Pounds, and the said vine cuttings or rooted vines may be seized

by any person authorized by the Chief Secretary in that behalf and

destroyed by fire.

Short Title.

4. This Act may be cited as the

Vines Protection A&, 1874."
