Victims of Crime Assistance (Procedure)
(Amendment) Rules 1999
The Chief Magistrate together with 2 Deputy Chief
Magistrates jointly make the following Rules:
1. Object
The object of these Rules is to amend the
provisions for lodgement of applications with theTribunal.
2. Authorising provisions
These Rules are made under section 57 of the other enabling powers.
3. Commencement
These Rules come into operation on 1 July 1999.
4. Principal Rules
In these Rules, the Victims of Crime Assistance (Procedure) Rules 19971 are called the Principal Rules.
5. Lodgement
For Rule 5 of the Principal Rules substitute—
"5. Lodgement(1) An application to the Tribunal must be
lodged with or posted to the registrar of the

Tribunal at Melbourne or at any other venue of the Tribunal referred to in Rule 6.
(2) Upon receipt of an application under sub-
rule (1) by a registrar of the Tribunal at any venue of the Tribunal other than Melbourne, that registrar must forthwith send by
facsimile transmission a copy of the
application to the registrar of the Tribunal atMelbourne.
5A. Application may be lodged at Melbourne by
facsimile
(1) An application may be lodged with the
registrar of the Tribunal at Melbourne by facsimile transmission in accordance with this Rule.
(2) An application lodged by facsimile
transmission shall include a cover page
stating—
(a)
the name address and telephone number of the sender;
(b) the date and time of transmission;
(c)
the total number of pages transmitted, including the cover sheet;
(d)
the telephone number from which the application is transmitted;
(e)
the name and telephone number of a person to contact in the event of any problem in transmission of the application;
(f)
that the transmission is by way of lodgement under Rule 5A(1).".
6. Revocation
Rule 7 of the Principal Rules is revoked.

7. Amendment of Rule 8(1)
In Rule 8(1) of the Principal Rules for "the venue of the Tribunal determined in accordance with Rule 7" substitute "Melbourne in accordance with Rule 5 or 5A".
8. Statute law revision
(1) In Rule 10(2) of the Principal Rules for
"Guardianship and Administration Board Act
1986" substitute "Guardianship andAdministration Act 1986".
(2) In Form 2 to the Principal Rules for
"Guardianship and Administration Board Act
1986" (where twice occurring) substitute"Guardianship and Administration Act 1986".
