Victims Compensation Fund v Crowley

The Victims Compensation Fund Corporation appealed to the Court of Appeal of New South Wales against orders made by Goldring DCJ in the District Court. The dispute concerned the quashing of judgments and records relating to proceedings numbered 422/99 at Newcastle.

The Court of Appeal was required to determine whether to grant leave to appeal and, if so, whether the District Court's judgment and record in the specified proceedings should be removed to the Court of Appeal and quashed.

The Court granted the summons for leave to appeal and made orders removing the District Court's judgment and record to the Court of Appeal and quashing them. The Victims Compensation Fund Corporation was ordered to pay the costs of the first opponent, Steven Crowley.
